Mentorship that delivers measurable results

Mothusi transforms mentoring from an untracked relationship into a managed, measured programme component that demonstrably improves SME outcomes.

AI Matching

Multi-dimensional matching considers sector expertise, business stage, geographic proximity, specific challenge alignment, and personality fit. Every match comes with a confidence score and reasoning. Programme managers approve matches with full visibility into why each pairing was recommended.

Session Management

Automated scheduling based on both parties' availability, with calendar invites, reminders, and personalised discussion guides. Each session guide is generated from the mentee's current challenges, recent health score changes, and upcoming milestones — so every meeting is focused and productive.

Effectiveness Tracking

Mentor effectiveness measured through mentee health score improvements, milestone completion rates, session consistency, and satisfaction surveys. Quarterly effectiveness reports benchmark each mentor against the pool average, highlighting top performers and identifying those who may need coaching support.

Mentor Network

Manage your entire mentor pool across multiple programmes — track capacity, specialisations, availability windows, and historical outcomes. When new mentees need matching, Mothusi searches across all available mentors to find the best fit, not just those in one programme.

Common questions

How does the mentor matching algorithm work?
Mothusi matches mentors to entrepreneurs across multiple dimensions: sector expertise (a construction mentor for a construction SME), business stage alignment (startup mentors for early-stage, growth mentors for scaling businesses), geographic proximity for in-person sessions, and specific challenge match (if an SME needs financial turnaround help, it's matched to a mentor with that track record). The AI also considers mentor capacity, past mentee outcomes, and scheduling compatibility. Matches include a confidence score and reasoning so programme managers can approve or adjust.
How do I onboard new mentors?
Tell Mothusi about the new mentor — their industry background, areas of expertise, availability, and preferred mentoring style — and they're added to the mentor pool immediately. Mothusi creates their profile, assesses which current mentees would be good fits, and suggests initial assignments. Mentors can also self-register through the platform and fill in their profile conversationally. The onboarding process takes about 5 minutes.
How is mentor effectiveness tracked?
Mothusi tracks mentor effectiveness through multiple signals: mentee health score improvements during the mentorship period, milestone completion rates of their mentees vs the cohort average, session attendance and consistency, mentee satisfaction feedback, and business growth metrics (revenue, jobs, compliance improvements). Mentors receive quarterly effectiveness reports with benchmarks, and programme managers see a ranked mentor leaderboard that highlights top performers and identifies mentors who may need support or additional training.
